Pelicans' E'Twaun Moore: Suffers heel contusion in Wednesday's game

Moore sustained a right heel contusion during Wednesday's 116-104 preseason loss to the Rockets and didn't return, ESPN.com's Marc J. Spears and Justin Verrier reports.

Analysis:

Moore, who started at shooting guard in the contest, suffered the injury in the second quarter, finishing the contest with two points (1-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and two turnovers over 10 minutes. The 26-year-old had been a standout for the Pelicans in preseason play prior to his departure Wednesday, producing 19- and 25-point efforts already during the exhibition schedule. If the heel injury doesn't prove to be anything significant, Moore could be cleared to return to the court for the team's next preseason contest Oct. 18 against the Hawks. He's still viewed as the frontrunner to open the season as the Pelicans' starting shooting guard with Tyreke Evans (knee) sidelined.
