Lakers' Jose Calderon: Gets rested for Tuesday's preseason loss
Calderon (rest) sat out Tuesday's 109-106 preseason loss to the Trail Blazers.
Analysis:
The 35-year-old was just getting a breather Tuesday after playing in each of the Lakers' first three preseason games. Calderon is slated to open the season as the top backup to starting point guard D'Angelo Russell, which should result in a dramatic decline from the 28.1 minutes per game he averaged with the Knicks in 2015-16. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising if Calderon was left out of the rotation entirely in certain contests, as both Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams are capable of running the offense when needed and offer greater impact as scorers.
