Rose will attend trial Wednesday, expects to miss some practice time
Derrick Rose will play Tuesday as the New York Knicks open the preseason against the Houston Rockets, but says he will fly to Los Angeles Wednesday where he is standing trial in a civil sexual assault case.
He expects to miss practice time and doesn't see a resolution in the case in the form of a settlement yet, he told reporters in Houston.
"All I can do is just pray about it," Rose said, according to the New York Post's Marc Berman. "As I said before, I feel I didn’t do anything wrong. If I go up there and just tell my side of the story, I think I’ll be alright.’’
After Tuesday, the Knicks play their next preseason game on Saturday at Madison Square Garden against crosstown rival Brooklyn Nets.
The trial of Rose and two co-defendants began Tuesday without Rose present. A Los Angeles woman is suing the star point guard for $21.5 million over claims the three men forced group sex upon her in 2013 while she was semi-conscious.
