Dwyane Wade: 'Miami is past'

Dwyane Wade was born and raised on Chicago's South Side, and on Monday night, at age 34, he got to feel what it's like to be introduced as a hometown player on his hometown team.

"Hearing the introduction - 'From Chicago …' - wow, it felt great," Wade said after Monday's Bulls preseason opener against the Milwaukee Bucks, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania.

It was a somewhat jarring sight to see Wade in a jersey other than that of the Miami Heat, the franchise he played for for 13 years, but the 12-time All-Star has adjusted.

"I've had a lot of time to reflect on this uniform, on hearing my name announced here," Wade said. "Miami is past. I'm here. First game down, and hopefully many more to go here."

Wade scored six points - both buckets on 3-pointers - in 12 minutes of action in the Bulls' 93-91 loss. With a career 28.4 percent mark from beyond the arc, the future Hall of Famer has never been a perimeter shooter. However, he said coming into training camp that he expects to see more deep looks - something desperately needed from a Bulls squad short on 3-point threats.

"It's kind of like a new era for me," Wade said last week.

In more ways than one.
