Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo: Agrees to contract extension with Bucks

Antetokounmpo agreed Monday with the Bucks on a four-year, $100 million contract extension, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

There was little chance that the Bucks would forgo the opportunity to match any offer that Antetokounmpo would have received as a restricted free agent next summer, but the team opted to give their franchise cornerstone some financial security in advance by extending him to a near-maximum deal. The 21-year-old Antetokounmpo entered the league as a project in 2013, but has since emerged as one of the game's top up-and-coming talents. Bucks coach Jason Kidd will look to capitalize on the 6-foot-11 Antetokounmpo's unique gifts by using him as their primary ball handler during the upcoming season, which should help him build further on last year's averages of 16.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.4 blocks per game.
