Kobe meets child battling rare, incurable disease

Kobe Bryant is doing some good in his retirement.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend shared a photo Friday of himself with a young boy who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).

Kobe's new friend, Alexander, loves basketball, kickball, and school.

DMD primarily affects young boys, and among fatal, genetic childhood disorders, it's the most common. There's no cure, and it typically takes the lives of sufferers in their late teens and 20s.

The Black Mamba has thrown his support behind Walking Strong, a foundation aimed to raise awareness and funds to help find a cure for the disease.
