Nuggets' Gallinari 'refused' to be traded before last trade deadline
Danilo Gallinari is loyal to the Denver Nuggets.
The 6-foot-10 forward admitted Sunday he declined multiple trade scenarios ahead of February's trade deadline.
"In Denver I am very well, there was a chance last year to go to some other team before the deadline in February, but I refused. It made no sense to go at that time." Gallinari said at an NBA event in Milan Sunday, as translated by Sportando's Orazio Cauchi.
The 28-year-old Italian stayed with the Nuggets, completing his fourth campaign in the Mile High City.
As the team's No. 1 offensive option, Gallinari averaged a career-high 19.5 points to go along with 5.3 boards and 2.3 assists per contest for the 33-49 Nuggets. He suited up in only 53 games, though, as he was beset by ankle and knee injuries.
The former sixth overall pick has two years and $31 million remaining on his deal in Denver.
