There was no JV versus DeMarcus Cousins matchup Sunday.

Toronto Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas was a late scratch against the Sacramento Kings due to a left knee contusion.

The Kings beat the Raptors 96-91, handing Toronto its second loss of the season.

The news was announced just prior to tipoff, with the team saying Valanciunas' injury occurred during the week and that the swelling had increased during the day Sunday.

Rookie Jakob Poeltl got his first career NBA start at center as a result, scoring six points and grabbing four rebounds.

Valanciunas, who got off to a hot start this season, had his lowest minutes and scoring output in Friday's win over the Miami Heat. He's averaging just under 14 points and 11 rebounds per game.
