NBA front-office simulation has Warriors winning 83 games
It took 20 years for an NBA team to topple the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' league record of 72 victories and 10 losses, but the Golden State Warriors finally did it last season, finishing 73-9.
With seven-time All-Star Kevin Durant now on the Warriors' roster, one undisclosed front-office simulation of how the 2016-17 campaign will play out has the Bay Area squad defying logic by being better than perfect.
Per Sports Illustrated's Lee Jenkins:
One NBA front office ran simulations, based on player values, for the upcoming season. Cleveland came out with 64 wins, second best in the league. Golden State came out with 83, better than undefeated. They broke the system.
The Warriors probably won't go an entire season without losing a match, let alone finish with more wins than there are total games. They are, however, the heavy favorites to win a second title in three years, which stems from signing a player the caliber of Durant to a two-year, $54.3-million contract.
