Wizards' Kelly Oubre: Will have option exercised for 2017-18
The Wizards have decided to exercise Oubre's $2.1 million team option for the 2017-18 season, CSN Mid-Atlantic's J. Michael reports.
Analysis:
The first two years of Oubre's rookie contract were already guaranteed, and after he showed plenty of promise during his time on the court as a rookie, it was merely a formality for the Wizards to exercise the swingman's third-year option. Oubre was a standout performer for the Wizards in summer league play during July, and the 20-year-old is expected to parlay that performance into a larger role with the team's second unit in 2016-17. He'll open training camp as the top backup to Otto Porter at small forward.
