Suns' Marquese Chriss: Misses final three summer games with illness
Chriss, who missed the Suns' final three Las Vegas Summer League games due to an illness, finished summer play with averages of 10.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 30.3 minutes per game over his three appearances.
Analysis:
Before succumbing to the illness, the 19-year-old looked extremely raw during his three games, accruing a total of 16 fouls and 10 turnovers while shooting an awful 33.3 percent from the floor. The 6-foot-10, 233-pound Chriss is an athletic marvel, but he's still learning the nuances of the game after not taking up the sport until his freshman year of high school. At this point, fellow lottery pick Dragan Bender appears further along in his development than Chriss, who could spend a fair amount of time in the D-League as a rookie with Jared Dudley and Bender presumably ahead of him on the depth chart at power forward.
