The NBA and Twitter announced a partnership Tuesday that will "bring exclusive original live programming and more video to Twitter, Vine, and Periscope" next season, according to a league release.

The content will not include streaming live games, something the social media platform is set to do this fall with the NFL's Thursday broadcasts.

There are two projects in the works. One is a free live stream of a new weekly pregame show exclusively for logged-in and logged-out Twitter users. No details were given about the other program.

The NBA is widely viewed as one of the most forward-thinking major sports leagues in terms of adapting to the social media age. The league recently became the first organization to surpass two billion loops on Vine.
