Anthony Bennett signs reported 2-year deal with Nets

The Brooklyn Nets have signed former No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett, the team announced on Thursday.

It's reportedly a two-year, minimum deal, sources told The Vertical's Shams Charania, with the first year of the contract guaranteed.

Bennett spent part of last season with the Toronto Raptors before being waived in late-February. The former first overall pick averaged 1.5 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.3 steals in 19 games, failing to carve out a spot in the Raptors' rotation.

With few draft picks going forward, Nets general manager Sean Marks has been forced to take fliers on several underachieving players this offseason in hopes of them reaching their potential.

Bennett joins Joe Harris, Jeremy Lin, Luis Scola, Greivis Vasquez, Trevor Booker, and Justin Hamilton as Brooklyn's offseason additions.
