The Philadelphia 76ers have signed Spanish point guard Sergio Rodriguez to a one-year, $8-million deal, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania.

The Brooklyn Nets were considered favorites to land Rodriguez entering the free-agency bonanza, but they inked Jeremy Lin and Tyler Johnson to long-term deals.

That likely opened up Rodriguez to fall to the 76ers, who badly need help at the one-spot.

Rodriguez, a former first-round pick of the Phoenix Suns, played five seasons as a backup for the Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings before heading home to dominate the Spanish league.

Over six campaigns, Rodriguez led Los Blancos to three ACB championships and the 2015 Euroleague title. He also shot 50 percent from deep last year.

The Sixers' depth chart at point guard now includes Rodriguez and Jerryd Bayless.
