Pacers' Paul George: Accepts invitation to play in Olympics

George accepted an invitation to play for Team USA during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, ESPN.com's Marc J. Spears reports.

Analysis:

The last time George suited up for USA Basketball in the summer of 2014, he suffered a horrific compound fracture in his right leg that looked like it could threaten his career, but the small forward assuaged any concerns about his long-term health by submitting an All-Star campaign in 2015-16, playing in 81 contests and averaging 23.1, 7.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game for the Pacers. With several of the top American players opting out of the Olympics, George could be a candidate to serve as a regular starter for the squad in Rio.
