Thunder's Russell Westbrook: Withdraws name from Olympic consideration

Westbrook has withdrawn his name from consideration for this year's U.S. Olympic squad, CBS Sports reports.

Analysis:

Westbrook released a statement Friday saying, "After speaking with my family, I have decided to not participate in this year's Olympics. This was not an easy decision, as representing my country at the World Championships in 2010 and the Olympics in 2012 were career highlights for me. I look forward to future opportunities as a member of USA Basketball." With Stephen Curry, John Wall, and Chris Paul also sitting out this summer in addition to Westbrook, Damian Lillard is in line to serve as Team USA's starting point guard during this summer's Olympic competition.
