Report: Security doesn't recognize DeRozan ahead of interview
What does an NBA player have to do to get a little love in the building he competes?
Toronto Raptors All-Star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan arrived Sunday at the Air Canada Centre to take part in an interview with ESPN's Doris Burke. Upon his arrival, a security guard stopped him to ask whether he worked in the building, according to Cleveland.com's Chris Haynes.
Backup was eventually called to confirm DeRozan's identity. When he was seen on the floor alongside Kyle Lowry, a second guard reportedly told his colleague, "that's our two best players."
DeRozan led the Raptors to a 99-84 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals, scoring a game-high 32 points on 12-of-24 shooting, along with five rebounds and four assists in 40 minutes.
On the heels of such an impressive performance in what may be the biggest victory in franchise history, you'd think everyone in or around the ACC would know who he is.
