Kenny Smith's interview for the Houston Rockets head coaching vacancy was a good first date, but he isn't getting a call back.
The Rockets have reportedly informed Smith that they were very impressed with his interview but he is no longer in the running for their head coaching job, sources told Calvin Watkins of ESPN.
Houston has yet to determine a list of finalists for the position but prefer someone with head coaching experience which ruled out Smith.
The 51-year-old Smith has 13 years of NBA experience as a player and has served as a TNT analyst since retiring from the league.
The Rockets have interviewed David Blatt, Jeff Hornacek, Mike D'Antoni, Sam Cassell, Stephen Silas, and Chris Finch.
