After eliminating Spurs, KD knows the Thunder's journey has just begun

The San Antonio Spurs lost just 15 games during the regular season, with only one coming on their floor at the AT&T Center. That level of success didn't transfer over to the postseason, though, with the Oklahoma City Thunder sending Tim Duncan and company home early with a win in Game 6 on Thursday in the Western Conference semifinals.

Considering the dominance of both the Spurs and 73-win Golden State Warriors, many assumed the two powerhouses of the West were on a collision course to the Conference Finals. The Thunder ensured that won't be the case by taking their series with San Antonio 4-2. Now the magnitude of such a win can't be understated, and would certainly be enough to appease several teams around the league, but for Thunder All-Star Kevin Durant, there's plenty of work still left to be done.

"This wasn't our championship," Durant said after the game.

The former NBA Most Valuable Player dropped a game-high 37 points on 12-of-24 shooting at Chesapeake Energy Arena. He also grabbed nine rebounds and handed out two assists in 42 minutes of action.

This is Oklahoma City's fourth appearance in the Conference Finals in the past six years, with the franchise only reaching the NBA Finals on one occasion in 2012.

Their reward for advancing past the Spurs comes in the form of a seven-game series with the seemingly unstoppable Warriors, who they lost all three of their meetings against this past season. Durant averaged a scorching 36.3 points, 12 rebounds, and 6.3 assists during their series.
