Duncan attempts 0 field goals for 1st time in career

Over the course of his 19-year Hall of Fame career, Tim Duncan has defied the aging curve like few before him. But two weeks after turning 40, his body is showing the signs of all the miles he's put on it.

The Spurs' Western Conference semifinal against the Oklahoma City Thunder has been a rude awakening for Duncan, who is increasingly finding he has no place in the series. The Thunder are too fast and athletic, their bigs too agile and physical. Duncan's a warrior, but this is no country for old men.

In Sunday night's Game 4 loss, Duncan - who averaged four points and four rebounds in the first three games of the series - was held off the score sheet entirely. In 12 minutes, he didn't even attempt a field goal, the first time in his career he's gone shotless, be it in a playoff or regular-season game.

In those 12 minutes, he also managed to pick up four personal fouls, while registering a minus-5 rating.

Duncan remains among the smartest players in the game, and may yet have some gas left in the tank physically. But the way things are going, it doesn't look like this is the series in which he'll end up expending it.
