Cavs' 3-point barrage helps secure another NBA record

The Cleveland Cavaliers didn't just complete a second-round sweep of the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday: They completed the most prolific four-game stretch of 3-point shooting in NBA history.

The Cavs shot 16-of-37 from beyond the arc in their Game 4 win, the fourth straight contest in which they hit at least 15 threes. No other team had ever done that before, in the regular season or the playoffs.

Cleveland had already set a record in Games 2 and 3, when it became the first team ever to hit at least 20 threes in consecutive games.

The numbers only get more outrageous the deeper you dig. The Cavs hit 77 total 3-pointers in the series. The previous record for made threes in a four-game series was 57, set by ... the Cavs, last round.

The volume itself is astounding, but the efficiency is even more impressive. For the series, the Cavs shot 50.7 percent from long range on nearly 40 attempts per game, and they hit nearly as many 3-pointers as 2-pointers (81).

If they can somehow keep this up in the conference finals, either the Toronto Raptors or Miami Heat will be hard-pressed to prevent the Cavs from coming out of the Eastern Conference undefeated.
