Report: NBA clears Thon Maker to enter 2016 draft
Thon Maker has been cleared by the NBA to forgo college and enter the 2016 draft, according to multiple reports, citing sources. Maker will reportedly hire an agent, signaling the end of his college eligibility.
Although Maker is still in high school, the 19-year-old is technically in his fifth year after officially graduating last June. Listed at 7-feet and with a 9-foot-3 standing reach, Maker's unique physical build helped make him one of the best prospects in high school basketball.
Prior to entering the draft, Maker was expected to announce his college decision in April, with Arizona State, Kansas, and Notre Dame among the candidates.
Born in Sudan, Maker moved to Australia at age 5. He later spent three years in Louisiana and Virginia before finally arriving in Canada, where he's played his last two years of high school basketball.
