Kobe Bryant capped off his 20-year career with a historic performance.

The Black Mamba dropped 60 points for his final act at Staples Center in front of a capacity crowd that rained down MVP chants before his 42 minutes on the court and long after.

After leaving everything that remained in his 37-year-old legs on the floor, Bryant delivered an open and honest final press conference.

Surviving until the final buzzer

I was just hoping I didn't hurt something. That would be a buzzkill.

Career propelled by hate

It was extremely necessary for me. That's what I fed off of. At the time, to be embraced would've been kryptonite for me.

Switching roles

It's a weird year, you going from being the villain to the hero. To people wanting you to pass to wanting to shoot.

Most memorable moment

The coolest thing is my kids saw me play like I used to play.

The End

I will never play an NBA game again.
