Sager named to NBC crew for Summer Olympics
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
Good news, basketball fans. Craig Sager has been named as part of NBC's Olympic broadcasting crew for this summer's Games in Rio de Janeiro. Sager will work the sidelines, joining Marv Albert and Doug Collins on the basketball telecasts. It will be Sager's fifth straight Olympics, and it comes as he continues to battle acute myeloid leukemia.
Last fall, Sager told Houston's Channel 2 News that he had two priorities work-wise in his recovery: the NBA regular season opener, which he did in October, and this summer's Olympics.
"'What about the Olympics next summer in Rio?' Sager recalled asking his doctor. 'No brainer!' He said. 'I said yes! Yes!'"
