With the regular season wrapping up Wednesday, the Brooklyn Nets will soon be opening their search for a head coach.

Jeff Van Gundy, Ettore Messina, and Ime Udoka are among the candidates newly hired general manager Sean Marks is interested in, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.

Van Gundy served as a head coach from 1996-2007 with the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets. Van Gundy has worked as a broadcaster for ESPN since his firing from Houston in 2007.

Both Messina and Udoka currently act as assistant coaches for the San Antonio Spurs. Marks is reportedly looking to hire someone he has a relationship with, making both logical choices as all three spent time together with the Spurs.

Tony Brown took over as Brooklyn's interim coach in January, but has led the Nets to a 11-33 record during his brief tenure, leading Marks to explore his options this summer.
