Warriors' Walton recalls Uber driver calling Kerr a jerk

Luke Walton didn't receive any official credit for the 39 wins he amassed as the Golden State Warriors interim head coach while filling in for Steve Kerr, and one Uber driver in Portland was livid about it.

"The driver started saying it was bullcrap that I wasn't getting the wins," Walton told Ramona Shelburne of ESPN of the January encounter. "He didn't know Steve was in the back, or he didn't recognize Steve yet. So Steve was like, 'Yeah, that head coach of theirs is a real asshole. He's only thinking about himself.'

"Then we all started jumping in. I said, 'Yeah, I think Steve even called the NBA to make sure he got those wins.' The Uber driver was like, 'God, he sounds like a jerk.'"

Kerr missed nearly five months to start the season while recovering from back surgery. Walton filled in dutifully, helping the Warriors to a 39-4 record, but NBA rules prevented him from receiving credit for the wins, instead awarding them to Kerr.
