McGregor calls rest of UFC 'bums,' slams Werdum in Fighter of the Year speech

Conor McGregor's bark is just as vicious as his bite. He proved as much Friday by throwing shade at the rest of the UFC in his acceptance speech after being named Fighter of the Year at the 2016 World MMA Awards in Las Vegas.

The UFC featherweight champion was unable to attend the event, but he sent in a prerecorded video in which he called out his fellow fighters, and implied that he's been shouldering the weight of the sport.

"I apologize for not being there," McGregor said, according to Hunter A. Homistek of MMAFighting.com. "There's another man that must be slain, another champion that must be dethroned. There's more numbers that need to be broken. I need to feed all you bums. I need to feed every single one of yous in the game, so I've got to keep working, because yous bums don't work."

McGregor then set his sights on UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum, criticizing him for pulling out of a fight against Stipe Miocic in what was then UFC 196 - since renamed UFC Fight Night 82 - after suffering an injury.

"You got the heavyweight champion, who's a p---y, pulling out with a sore toe. How is the heavyweight champion going to pull out with a sore toe? What kind of champion is that? The game is on its knees, so I apologize I can't be there at the awards, but I am out here putting it in, working, putting in the true work, the work it takes to keep every one of yous fed.

"So thank you, and thank me."
