Victor Ortiz: Mayweather has no chance against Rousey in an MMA fight

The Floyd Mayweather-Ronda Rousey feud continues to chug along unabated.

A week after Rousey verbally laid waste to Mayweather at the ESPY Awards with a pointed jab at the boxer's history of domestic violence, former WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz made the most obvious (and true) statement possible about the budding rivalry: Mayweather has no shot against Rousey in the Octagon, while Rousey has no business being in the ring with Mayweather.

"That's a different world (for Mayweather) ... A boxer can't step into an Octagon and do boxing things to them. And if it is, it's probably minimal,” Ortiz told Sports Illustrated.

"To think that Floyd has a chance in a UFC (fight), against Ronda, no. But it's also the other way around, if you put a UFC fighter strictly boxing for 12 rounds, it's different. It's just you can't compare the two sports, I don't think."

This obvious fact escapes a lot of people, so it's nice Ortiz is willing to point it out instead of staunchly defending his own sport. MMA and boxing are two very, very different combat sports, and should be treated as such.
