Ronda Rousey on Bethe Correia: 'I want that fight, I want it now'

Stephen R. Sylvaine / USA Today Sports

Bethe Correia fancies herself Dusty Rhodes to mixed martial arts' Four Horsewomen, and "the Ric Flair of the Four Horsewomen," after seeing stablemates Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke lose to Correia, wants to put a stop to it.

In other words, Ronda Rousey now has Correia in her cross-hairs, and doesn't expect her to complete the sweep of the Four Horsewomen group.

"I want that fight," Rousey texted UFC president Dana White, according to White. "I want it now. I want it before someone else beats her."

Rousey later confirmed the demand to MMAWeekly via text message, writing "I just hope she doesn't lose before I get a chance to beat her myself."

The draw in such a fight is obvious - Correia has taken down two of four friends, and Rousey is the leader of the group (not to mention the undefeated UFC women's bantamweight champion). The only other member of the group Correia is yet to face is Marina Shafir, who is just 1-1 as a pro and a ways away from UFC action.

While Rousey is tentatively set to face Gina Carano when the latter officially signs with the promotion, her sense of urgency makes sense. At 9-0, Correia presents the possibility of two undefeated fighters going head-to-head, which is a major selling point beyond just the Horsewomen story.

Count us in for Rousey-Correia, anyway.
