Thiago Silva pulls out of 1st fight since felony arrest

Former UFC fighter Thiago Silva was granted the chance to fight locally near Miami despite awaiting trial on charges of aggravated assault and more, but a knee injury will prevent the 31-year-old from taking on Mike Hayes at the Fight Time 20 card on Aug. 29.

Silva's manager told ESPN this week that Silva will require knee surgery, knocking him out of what would have been his first fight since October 2013. The news came just three days after the state agreed to allow Silva (16-3 [2], 7-3 [2] in UFC) to remove his anklet for the bout.

You can read more about Silva's legal issues in the storyline below. His manager suggested to ESPN that they expect a hearing on those matters within 60 days.
