Watch: Macfarlane improves to 6-0 with 1st-round armbar of Middleton

Bellator MMA

If Jessica Middleton was supposed to trip up Ilima-Lei Macfarlane, that was news to "The Ilimanator."

Macfarlane improved to 6-0 in her professional career with a slick first-round armbar that forced Middleton to tap out Friday in the co-main event of Bellator 178 in Uncasville, Conn.

Postfight, Macfarlane called for officials to consider her for a shot at the inaugural Bellator flyweight title that is expected to be introduced in 2017.

The 27-year-old Hawaiian took control of this bout shortly after the opening bell, muscling Middleton against the cage before scoring a takedown that dictated where the rest of the fight would take place. Macfarlane briefly advanced to crucifix position before settling into Middleton's half guard where she remained patient as Middleton struggled to improve her position.

Middleton's defenses gradually withered and soon she found herself mounted and then trapped in an armbar that she attempted to fight off for almost 15 seconds. Without any way to escape, "Million Hits" had to accept defeat for the first time in her three-fight pro career.
