Regardless of why Chris Weidman's fight with Gegard Mousasi at UFC 210 was waved off, there's evidence now that it may have been a good call.

Saturday's co-main event bout between Weidman and Mousasi ended in utter chaos when a knee from Mousasi that was originally thought to be illegal turned out to be perfectly within the rules, leading to a confusing TKO stoppage in Mousasi's favor after the New York State Athletic Commission ruled that the blow rendered Weidman unable to continue.

In the clip above, referee Dan Miragliotta can be seen telling Weidman's cornermen that the fighter didn't know what day it was. Coach Ray Longo responds by loudly cursing about the situation, while coach Matt Serra appears to be a little more levelheaded.

It's not uncommon for fighters to be at less than peak cognitive capacity during a bout, especially when you consider the amount of violent head punching involved, but in this case officials decided that Weidman was through.
