Diaz: 'I got winner' of Mayweather-McGregor fight

The way Nate Diaz sees it, he's uniquely qualified to fight both Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.

With those two combat sports giants in the preliminary stages of negotiating what would be a blockbuster crossover bout, Diaz is making a case for himself not to be left out. Diaz recently told garneksports that his previous success against McGregor and the fact that he could soon be authorized to box in both California and Nevada should put him next in line for whoever gets their hand raised in the event that a Mayweather-McGregor fight actually occurs.

"I already got my California license and I'm getting my Nevada license right now for boxing because if they're going to let McGregor box, I'm going to be boxing too and I'm going to get in on that. I got winner," said Diaz.

In Diaz's opinion he actually holds two victories over "The Notorious." One is on the record, as he became the first and still the only man to defeat McGregor inside the Octagon when he submitted him with a rear-naked choke in the second round of their meeting at UFC 196 last March.

McGregor would take a majority decision in their rematch the following August at UFC 202, a verdict that Diaz believes should have gone his way. He's tired of seeing McGregor get all the breaks, including the fact that the Irishman is being allowed to discuss a move to boxing in the first place.

According to Diaz, boxing promoters have been trying to pry him away from MMA for years.

"Some boxing promoters were trying to buy my contract from the UFC (years ago) and the UFC was not letting me go," said Diaz. "Now they're talking all this McGregor-Mayweather stuff, I don't know how real or fake it is, but you know, money talks.

"All I know is I'm the only one with the credentials to fight both of those guys who claim they're the best in the world. Mayweather's been for years at boxing, and then McGregor, I just beat him twice and everybody forgets that."
