Legacy Fighting Championship president Mick Maynard will step in for longtime UFC matchmaker Joe Silva in 2017, according to Jeremy Botter of FloSports.

On Aug. 31, it was reported that Silva would be leaving after 21 years with the promotion.

Botter tweeted the news of Maynard's assignment shortly after it was revealed that the LFC would be merging with well-regarded regional promotion Resurrection Fighting Alliance to form the Legacy Fighting Alliance. The two promotions announced the merger via a press release Monday.

Presumably, this ends Maynard's involvement with the former LFC. It was reported on Sept. 15 that the UFC had signed Maynard in some capacity, five days after he was seen on stage at the weigh-ins for UFC 203 in Cleveland.

In his role as LFC president, Maynard has long had a positive relationship with Dana White and the UFC due to his facilitating of top-talent signings whenever the Octagon came calling. Some notable UFC fighters who came from the LFC include former women's bantamweight champion Holly Holm and popular lightweight prospect Sage Northcutt.

Maynard is expected to split duties with remaining matchmaker Sean Shelby, with Shelby either continuing as the manager of the lighter and female weight classes or handing those divisions off to Maynard so that Shelby can assume Silva's responsibilities.
