The Wednesday After – UFC on FUEL 3
How does this keep happening?
Normally, this would be “The Monday After” but FUEL TV cards are landing on some pretty random days. I’m pretty sure UFC on FUEL 4 is going down on a Wednesday night so we will return to normal slightly.
For a card that really didn’t have much buzz, there were a lot of solid fights. Some impressive performances mixed in with some upsets made the night very enjoyable.
Without any more time wasted, here are...

Ariel Helwani says blame for Diaz vs. Estima mishap lies on everyone’s shoulders
Today’s “The MMA Show with Mauro Ranallo” podcast featured an interview with Ariel Helwani, who sounded off on the whole Nick Diaz vs. Braulio Estima mishap.
“It’s become a ‘he said, he said’ kind of thing. Are we ever going to find the truth? Do we really care? We all knew Estima was training with the Blackzilians, so if they didn’t want him to be the opponent, why did they just say so now? I think the whole event at...

UFC on FUEL 3 – Where to Lean
What will you be doing on this fine Tuesday night? Normally the answer wouldn’t be watching an MMA card, but that is what it will hopefully be tonight. The UFC brings its latest offering on FUEL TV tonight for their first card on a Tuesday night in quite some time.
The UFC has held two cards on a Tuesday night previously. The first was the big trilogy fight between Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock on October 10, 2006. 5.7 million...

Update: Ultimate Fighter Finalist Sells Championship Belt
Don't think Magalhaes and M-1 are sending each other Christmas cards. Photo courtesy of M-1 Global
Some fighter’s cherish their championship belts, others…not so much.
While we all know the relationship between Vinny Magalhaes and M-1 Global is far from civil, but even I didn’t think that Magalhaes would go to this extreme to distance himself from the company. Magalhaes was at one point, the M-1 Global light heavyweight champion. After a contract dispute and a huge public fall out, Magalhaes...

Hoping for no more ‘jinx,’ Waachiim Spiritwolf welcomes trilogy bout with Marius Zaromskis

Maybe the third time will be the charm for Waachiim Spiritwolf and Marius Zaromskis.
On Friday night at Bellator 68 in Atlantic City, N.J., Spiritwolf and Zaromskis squared off in a 172-pound catchweight tilt (Spiritwolf missed weight by a pound). After a close first round, Spiritiwolf really took it to Zaromskis in the second, taking the Lithuanian to the ground and giving him a pounding. While observers couldn’t agree on who won the first round, everyone agreed...

Renzo Gracie takes responsibility for Nick Diaz mishap
Today’s “The MMA Show with Mauro Ranallo” podcast featured an interview with Renzo Gracie, who took responsibility for the no-show by Nick Diaz at this past weekend’s BJJ expo.
“I have to be honest, if there’s someone to blame it’s me. Even though it was my expo, I had one guy (“Junior”) working on it and he was good at organizing it and putting it together. The only thing he’s not good at is dealing with fighters. Junior called Ceasar...
