Brandon Vera says he considered PEDs following loss to Jon Jones, vows to return to Octagon better than ever
It may be ironic, considering Brandon Vera’s beef with Thiago Silva stems from the Brazilian failing a post-fight drug test after their UFC 125 bout, but “The Truth” says he once considered taking performance enhancing drugs.
He made the revelation today while speaking to Mauro Ranallo on The MMA Show.
“Yes, the thought has crossed my mind. The only reason I didn’t do it was because I didn’t want to disappoint anyone, I didn’t want to win because of PEDs,...

Malki Kawa says Diaz camp may be posturing, says Condit agreed to rematch
Today’s “The MMA Show with Mauro Ranallo” podcast featured an interview with Malki Kawa, the agent of Carlos Condit, who said his client talked to Dana White and agreed to rematch Nick Diaz after their fight at UFC 143. He says that if Cesar Gracie and the rest of the Diaz camp is saying “no, it’s not happening” then they may be posturing, because as far as he’s concerned, the rematch is happening.
“It’s probably some contract issues, maybe some...

Malki Kawa open to idea of Condit/Diaz rematch pending St-Pierre’s health
The fate of Carlos Condit, and possibly the future of Nick Diaz in MMA, hinges on one fellow: UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.
Speaking to The MMA Show with Mauro Ranallo, Condit’s agent Malki Kawa said that he’s open to the idea of a rematch between the UFC interim welterweight champion and Diaz, who said after the razor-close decision loss at UFC 143 he will retire from the sport — but only if St-Pierre is out longer than anticipated.
“If...

Cesar Gracie doesn’t think Nick Diaz will fight again this year
Today’s “The MMA Show with Mauro Ranallo” podcast featured an interview with Cesar Gracie, the coach of Nick Diaz who came out on the wrong end of a decision in the main event of UFC 143. Gracie talked about why he thought Diaz won the fight, what he thought about Carlos Condit’s strategy, and whether or not he thinks Diaz will in fact stay retired.
“When we say retirement, we’ve seen people retire many times. It doesn’t have to be...

“Evolution” into 2012
UFC 143 will be remembered for many different reasons. The debut of Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, the two point foul Alex Caceres received and the retirement of Nick Diaz. Okay, I was joking about the last one, but there are still a few instances that will bring this event to the mind of a fan in the future.
When you look back on important dates in UFC history, UFC 143 will appear because of the opening 60 seconds of the pay-per-view broadcast. For...

MMA has gameplans and Carlos Condit used a good one
When the main event of UFC 143 began on Saturday night, I knew I was in for an interesting next half hour or so. I was at a local establishment where half of the patrons were Nick Diaz fans and the other half were Carlos Condit fans. Once the fight was complete and the decision had been read, I was shocked at the amount of people, both around me and on twitter, that were outraged with the way Condit fought. Even...

A rematch is in order for Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit
Nick Diaz looks away as Carlos Condit is crowned the UFC interim welterweight champion.
With fans and interested observers divided on whether Nick Diaz or Carlos Condit should have been crowned the UFC interim welterweight champion — and with champion Georges St-Pierre not able to unify the title until November — it only makes sense to have a rematch.
After all, it was a close fight that was for a title, and it’s not like it would be setting precedence...

The Monday After UFC 143
After the UFC on FOX 2 show put an end to a streak of dynamite shows by the UFC, the company definitely bounced back on pay-per-view with UFC 143. Like most really good shows, there are plenty of questions and a little bit of controversy coming out of Saturday’s show. We had a very close main event, an incredibly impressive return to the octagon and two fighters who have now put themselves into prime position for a title shot.

Javier Mendez says AKA’s injuries just part of the sport
Cain Velasquez is returning to training soon and should be making his comeback in the coming months.
It’s no secret the American Kickboxing Academy is a little banged up right now.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is out. Former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson is finally making return to the hexagon this April after having not competed at all in 2011. Nelson stopped by to talk about the fight, what kind of shape he expects to show up in, and where a win over Werdum would put him in the heavyweight pecking order.

Nick Diaz, the UFC, and the Perfect Antidote to Super Bowl Hype
It’s weirdly fitting that, as the UFC takes to pay-per-view on the eve of the Super Bowl, the fighter who should lead the charge is Nick Diaz. That’s not because Diaz embodies any of the same qualities that we’ve come to associate with pro football’s circus weekend. Quite the opposite, in fact, which is what’s so great about it.
If Nick Diaz were to suppress his hatred of jock culture long enough to actually play football, he’d probably be terrible...

Oh yes! Another Arianny behind-the-scenes video
Man, give it up for the guys at Complex.
Not only did they get Arianny to disrobe — which isn’t actually that hard — but they had the good sense to dress her up like a dominatrix. Am I alone in feeling like Ms. Celeste looks very, very at home in fetish gear?
They also convinced her to dress up like a Russian sailor. I’m not really sure what that was about.

ProElite’s Ryan Martinez: “MMA saved my life”
Like so many others, Ryan Martinez says mixed martial arts turned his entire life around.
Living in the fast lane might be fun for a while, but when you miss your daughter’s first steps because you are in prison, like Martinez was, it’s not so amusing anymore.
