MLS Game Summary - Seattle at Colorado

Commerce City, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Obafemi Martins found the back of the net on either side of the intermission on Sunday as the Seattle Sounders coasted to a 4-1 rout of the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Having already clinched a playoff spot, a win for Seattle would keep the club in prime contention for the Supporters' Shield and Sigi Schmid's side collected goals from Clint Dempsey, Martins and Marco Pappa to pull level with Los Angeles atop the table with 60 points.

Colorado's lone tally came off the boot of Deshorn Brown, but it wasn't enough as the club suffered its 15th loss of the season to remain on 32 points.

It took just 11 minutes for the Sounders to take the lead as Rapids defender Marvelle Wynne was whistled for a handball in the box, resulting in a spot which Dempsey dispatched with a cheeky chip.

The visitors doubled their advantage in the 28th minute as Martins got on the end of a nice through ball from Pappa and slotted it past Rapids goalkeeper Clint Irwin with ease.

The Sounders made it 3-0 in the 33rd minute as Pappa beat Irwin with an excellent chipped effort for his fourth goal of the season before the Rapids finally pulled one back on the stroke of halftime through Deshorn Brown's 10th goal of the campaign.

Seattle put the result away 20 minutes from time when Lamar Neagle got free on the left flank and sent a low ball across the face of goal where Martins tapped it home at the far post to wrap up all three points.
