Donovan breaks record, Galaxy beat Toronto FC 3-0
CARSON, Calif. - Landon Donovan broke the MLS career assists record with 136 and Robbie Keane scored two first-half goals in the Los Angeles Galaxy' 3-0 victory over Toronto FC on Saturday night.
The Galaxy (17-5-9) moved alone into the top spot in the MLS while extending their undefeated streak to 10 games. Toronto dropped to 11-12-7.
Donovan broke a tie with Steve Ralston for the record in the 25th minute on the Galaxy's second goal. He sent a ball forward to A.J. DeLaGarza, who crossed it back to Keane for his 19th goal of the season.
Donovan also holds the MLS record for goals with 144. Retiring at the end of the season, Donovan received a standing ovation as he was replaced by Alan Gordon in the 84th minute.
Keane opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, and Gordon added a third goal in the 93rd minute.
