Corinthians' Marlone, Venezuelan teenager Daniuska Rodriguez, and Malaysia's Mohd Faiz Subri were named finalists for the 2016 Puskas Award on Friday, with one unheralded scorer set to have their stunning goal recognised as the best of the year.

The three tallies were nominated after an initial shortlist of 10 had been compiled, with the likes of Lionel Messi's Copa America free-kick against the United States, and Neymar's sombrero flick and volley sequence against Villarreal getting the axe.

Here are the three goals that are up for the distinction:

Marlone - Corinthians vs. Cobresal (Copa Libertadores)

Easily the most acrobatic entry, the goal was only Marlone's second for the Brazilian club - talk about setting a high bar.

Daniuska Rodriguez - Venezuela vs. Colombia (Women’s U-17 Sudamericano Championship)

Rodriguez's superb solo effort, in which she tormented a pair of Colombian defenders, follows in the footsteps of Stephanie Roche, who was among the three finalists for the 2014 award. The Venezuelan teen will hope to go one better than her Irish peer.

Mohd Faiz Subri - Pulau Pinang vs. Pahang (Malaysian Super League)

The physics-defying free-kick likely elicits the greatest reaction of the three, as Subri threw his hat in the ring with a goal that would make Roberto Carlos proud.

The winner will be announced during FIFA's award ceremony on Jan. 9.
