Report: Orioles still in talks with Davis

It's unlikely Chris Davis ever plays another game for the Baltimore Orioles, but the club is still relentlessly pursuing the free-agent slugger.

A high-ranking Orioles executive reached out to Davis' agent, Scott Boras, a few days ago, according to MASN's Roch Kubatko.

The Orioles reportedly tabled an offer upwards of $150 million to Davis at the winter meetings, but executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette later revoked the offer as he grew impatient with the first baseman.

Orioles reliever Darren O'Day is also lobbying hard for the Orioles to retain Davis' services. He hilariously debuted a bushy mustache at his press conference to announce his new four-year deal with the club, and said he specifically groomed himself to send a message to Davis - a mustache enthusiast.

Center fielder Adam Jones also stated he was happy with the club's effort to keep Davis in Baltimore.

The Orioles have had a relatively quiet offseason to this point, aside from acquiring Mark Trumbo from the Seattle Mariners and re-signing Matt Wieters and O'Day.

Davis has crushed 159 home runs over the past four seasons, more than any player in the majors over that span. However, his 208 strikeouts last season were the most in the bigs.
