The Boston Red Sox have added some starting pitching depth to their system, signing right-hander Sean O'Sullivan to a minor-league deal, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

O'Sullivan, 28, made 13 starts for the Philadelphia Phillies last season, posting a 1-6 record with a 6.08 ERA in 71 innings of work.

The former third-round pick of the Los Angeles Angels owns a career mark of 11-23 with an ERA of 5.95 and a WHIP of 1.58 across six big-league seasons split between the Angels, Phillies, Kansas City Royals, and San Diego Padres.
