There doesn't appear to be enough time left in the season for injured infielder Juan Uribe to return to the New York Mets' lineup.

Sidelined since Sept. 25 after aggravating a chest injury, Uribe isn't expected to be activated for the World Series, according to Marc Carig of Newsday.

The 36-year-old was left off both the NLDS and NLCS rosters, but general manager Sandy Alderson remained hopeful Uribe could return at some point.

Acquired from the Atlanta Braves prior to the non-waiver trade deadline, Uribe slashed .219/.301/.430 with six home runs and 20 RBIs through 44 games with the Mets.

New York will open the World Series on the road Tuesday against either the Kansas City Royals or Toronto Blue Jays.
