Royals' Morales makes franchise history with 3-homer performance
Kendrys Morales was on fire Sunday.
The Kansas City Royals designated hitter unleashed some hitting fury against the Detroit Tigers, setting a franchise record with the first 15-total base game in the team's history.
Royals legend George Brett held the club's previous record of 14, set in 1979.
Morales padded his stats with the first three-home run game of his career to also become the first Royals player to homer three times in a game since Danny Tartabull in 1991.
The 32-year-old slugger hit two of his three home runs off Tigers starter Alfredo Simon, and added a third late in the game against Jeff Ferrell to push his season total to 21.

Overall, the Cuban finished the day 4-for-4 with three home runs, a triple, a walk, five runs scored, and three RBIs.
Morales also increased his RBI total to 105 - sitting three short of his career high - making him one of the biggest bargains of the season, having signed with the Royals in the offseason for $17 million over two years.
