The Sugar Land Skeeters' final series of the season will be a family affair.

Fifty-year-old former All-Star first baseman Rafael Palmeiro has signed with the Atlantic League team for the final three games in order to play alongside his oldest son, Patrick.

"We discussed me playing earlier this year and it's something I've looked forward to since then," Rafael said in a release from the team. "The chance to play with my son is an opportunity the Skeeters have offered me and I'm very excited to make it happen this weekend."

One of only five players to rack up at least 500 home runs and 3,000 hits, Palmeiro is expected to be in the lineup Friday against the Camden Riversharks.

Rafael tested positive for steroids in 2005 and was included in the Mitchell Report for alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Managed by former major-leaguer Gary Gaetti, the Skeeters also employed former NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady last season for four games.
