Royals' Moustakas breaks team record with 9 RBIs vs. Orioles
It was a historic day for Mike Moustakas in Baltimore.
The third baseman set a team record with nine RBIs as his Kansas City Royals beat the Baltimore Orioles 14-6 at Camden Yards on Saturday.
Moustakas, who went 3-for-5 in the contest, failed to reach base in his first two at-bats of the game, but after hitting a two-run single in the sixth, he had another chance to do damage with the bases loaded in the seventh. The 27-year-old then blasted a T.J. McFarland offering over the right field wall for his second career grand slam.
He capped off his incredible night with another homer, this time a three-run shot to center for his 18th of the season, off Steve Johnson to give the Royals an eight-run lead. Moustakas now has 72 RBIs on the year, one short of his 2012 career high.

"He sure had a great one today," manager Ned Yost said postgame. "A grand slam, a three-run homer. I don't know what else he did, that game was so doggone long. He had nine RBI? A four-hour game, I forgot about all of that."
"Moose" joins Edwin Encarnacion as the only players to record nine RBIs in a single game this season with the Toronto Blue Jays first baseman accomplishing the feat on Aug. 29 against the Detroit Tigers.
With the win, the Royals increase their cushion atop the AL Central to 10 1/2 games over the Minnesota Twins.
