Erisbel Arruebarrena's disappointing stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers took a another discouraging turn Thursday when the club placed the 25-year-old infielder on the suspended list for disciplinary reasons, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

The club later confirmed to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times that Arruebarrena will be suspended for the remainder of the season due to repeated failures to comply with his contract.

Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman didn't provide any specifics about why Arruebarrena was suspended, though, calling it simply an "internal matter." Arruebarrena, who signed a five-year, $25-million deal with the Dodgers prior to the 2014 campaign, will not be paid while on the suspended list.

Though he appeared in 22 games for the Dodgers last season, Arrueberrena was designated for assignment in January and has yet to appear in a minor-league game in 2015. During his brief stint with Los Angeles last summer, Arruebarrena hit just .195/.244/.220 (34 OPS+) while striking out 17 times in 45 plate appearances.
