Representatives for Hector Olivera are denying a report that claims the Cuban second baseman damaged his ulnar collateral ligament and could require Tommy John surgery.

Sources told Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports on Thursday that there's concern among those involved in Olivera's workouts that he injured the UCL in his throwing arm. Should he require elbow surgery, Olivera would likely be sidelined until 2016.

Hours later, Olivera's camp issued a strong denial, claiming the Cuban star feels fine and has taken and passed four physicals.

"It's absolutely not true," Olivera's camp told Ben Badler of Baseball America, adding that the infielder has been training and throwing with no reported issues.

Olivera is reportedly seeking a deal between five and six years in length and is said to be mulling at least one contract offer worth more than $50 million. However, the 29-year-old is not permitted to negotiate with clubs until he's officially declared a free agent by the Commissioner's Office.

His camp denied they've received any offers from MLB teams.

In the meantime, Olivera continues to impress during private workouts, with scouts optimistic his bat and glove play at either second or third base at the major-league level. Teams believed to have expressed interest include the Los Angeles DodgersAtlanta Braves and San Diego Padres.
