Agent: Red Sox to announce Moncada signing by next week

The agent for Cuban prospect Yoan Moncada said he expects the Boston Red Sox to formally introduce his client by next week at the latest.

David Hastings told Jon Morosi of FOX Sports that the club is waiting on one additional test before announcing the reported $31.5-million signing. He added that it's possible his client's deal is finalized by the end of this week.

ESPN's Gordon Edes reported Tuesday that Moncada must still complete standard MLB drug testing.

Moncada, 19, is believed to have underwent two physicals last week - one in Boston and the other in Florida - after signing the richest contract for an amateur international free agent under the age of 23. The highly touted infielder is expected to report to the team's minor-league camp once the agreement is made final.
