Yoan Moncada arrives at Red Sox spring training facility for physical
The Yoan Moncada era in Boston is nearly underway.
Boston has a pending agreement to sign the 19-year-old infielder to a deal that includes a $31.5-million signing bonus, a record for an international amateur under 23 years old.
Moncada arrived at the team's spring training facility just after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning and was expected to undergo a pair of physicals: one at the club's complex in Florida and the other back in Boston. His agent, David Hastings, said he expects the deal to be finalized by Friday.
Once the agreement is made final, Moncada is expected to report to the team's minor-league camp March 2.

The Red Sox have remained tight-lipped with respect to the negotiation process, but team president Larry Lucchino heaped high praise on the teenage phenom.
"(Moncada can) change the fortunes of the franchise for years to come," he said, according to Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe.
