Report: Marlins remain in talks with Francisco Rodriguez

Benny Sieu / USA TODAY Sports

Though the Miami Marlins boast a slew of talented right-handers at the back of their bullpen, the club continues to have dialogue with veteran reliever Francisco Rodriguez, according to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro.

Rodriguez's reported contract demands, however, may deter the Marlins from signing the 33-year-old, who logged 44 saves with a 3.04 ERA across 66 appearances with the Milwaukee Brewers last season. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Rodriguez is seeking a $10-million commitment, while Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported earlier this offseason that the five-time All-Star wants a two-year contract.

Rodriguez, who continues to have discussions with the Brewers, as well, could potentially serve as a setup man to closer Steve Cishek and allow right-handers A.J. Ramos and Bryan Morris to slide into middle-relief roles.
