Report: Francisco Rodriguez seeking 2-year deal

Though teams have already started shipping gear to Florida and Arizona in anticipation of the start of spring training, veteran reliever Francisco Rodriguez remains unemployed - and it may have something to do with his contract demands.

The 33-year-old right-hander is reportedly seeking a two-year deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, despite receiving only one-year commitments (and, prior to the 2013 campaign, a minor-league deal) since the end of the 2011 season.

Rodriguez, a 13-year veteran who holds the single-season record for saves, enjoyed a resurgence with the Milwaukee Brewers last season, notching 44 saves with a 3.04 ERA and 4.06 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 66 appearances. The five-time All-Star also posted a career-best 6.7-percent walk rate across 68 innings while managing an 11.5-percent swinging-strike rate, his best since 2011.

Rodriguez remains an option for the Brewers, who have employed him intermittently in each of the past four seasons, and was also reportedly "on the radar" of the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this offseason. It remains unclear, however, if either team is prepared to offer him a multi-year deal.
